​The history behind this significant national park goes for centuries in the books for almost 200 years named in honor of Braulio Carrillo the third head of state who governed Costa Rica between 1837 and 1842. In 1977 he began THE construction of the current road San Jose – Guápiles and a year later, to avoid the irrational destruction of the forest, Braulio Carrillo National Park was created, according to Executive Decree No. 8357 of April 15, 1978, ratified by the Republic Act No. 6280 on November 14, 1978.  the National Park was expanded to reach a total of 47,586 hectares. Recently, in 2015 by Executive Decree No. 39259-MINAE, published in La Gaceta No. 237 of December 7, it was added to the national park the products introduced by Law Decree No. 65 of 1888, increasing its extension currently to have 50.000 hectares.  The history of this park has been going on for years and each year that passes, another piece of nature is grown out of the rich soil .

Braulio Carrillo National Park was given its name in honor to Braulio Carrillo, the third head of state who governed Costa Rica from 1835-1837 and 1838-1842. Carrillo promoted the cultivation of coffee plantations and the export of this product into Europe; which is the main reason why he conceived the connection between the Central Valley and the Caribbean region of Costa Rica. During the administration of Tomas Guardia, another cobblestone road was built from Parasito de Moravia to the Honduras and Sucio rivers. Throughout years and years of this forest being out lived, each generation shows the same amount of vitals from all plants and trees.

In 1977, the San Jose – Guapiles highway construction was started and by 1978, this park was declared primarily to pre-empt settlements of the zone with steep slopes, high mountains, heavy forests and diverse fauna.
The Braulio Carrillo National Park is covered with great density of forest and a botanical diversity. The primary forest has about 6.000 species of plants, half of Costa Rica’s plant species. Visitors can admire the manu, caoba, roble, caobilla, gavilan, among others, and trees like the botarrama, ceiba, yos, lorito and ojoche.

Braulio Carrillo National Park is crossed by the Braulio Carrillo Highway, also commonly referred to as Route 32. Every Costa Rican has travelled along this asphalt serpent delighting in the breathtaking views of endless greenery, trees staining the colour of chlorophyll, towering wild mountains, full of life.Who hasn’t marvelled at the sound of frogs singing, or been cautious when sudden torrential downpours turn Route 32, crossed by makeshift waterfalls, into a real river? And who hasn’t tried to hold their breath for the entire length of the famous Zurquí Bridge? That’s right, today we are going to talk about the gigantic Braulio Carrillo National Park. Crossing the Route 32 must be one for the memories because going through certain places like this is a act you need to speak about more, the amazing feeling and sight of seeing bright nature at its peak is something the Costa ricans always talked about and wanted their young ones to know about. They feel as part of the forest is related to them, they can feel the greens being grown, the life being nourished and the helpful facts that the air is pure and needed for a lot of living organisms around the forest.

Each year the park ages, Is another year of greatness for the forest as one. Increase in nature is a mandatory thing to happen, it give life for all of plants to renourish and blossom. Each year they also run Trip/Tours for tourist,There guiders go through the dense forest trails. Though 80 percent of the 1200-acre private reserve is primary forest, the canopy tour utilizes the other 20 percent, which, though previously farmed, is now secondary forest.

The Atlantic Rainforest Tram’s canopy tour consists of eight platforms and seven cables, the longest of which measures just over 450 feet. Recommended for all ages, the tour is tamer than some of its adrenaline-filled contemporaries. Regardless of its slower speeds (about 15 mph), I enjoyed soaring over the treetops, my feet dangling over a rushing river. The views were peaceful, and aside from our own voices, the only sounds were those of the rainforest.

Braulio Carrillo National Park is administered by the Conservation Area of the Central Mountain Range, because it protects the hydraulic resources that provide water to the entire Central Valley.

The Barva Volcano sector is made of volcanic massif throughout 100 square km. Since the volcano’s eruption of 1772, there are few gas vents, thermal springs and lakes with volcanic origin, like Laguna Barva and Laguna Copey.

Braulio Carrillo National Park was created to protect natural and cultural resources; therefore it is not permitted to remove any rocks, animals or plants from the area. The park has a big staff available to help and provide information to visitors. It is important to stay inside the marked trails and keep the park clean.

In this magnificent forest you can find more than just greens and tree,you find heritage and love thought out everything in the way. There more to it than just sightseeing, you see how life builds and changes on and on to survive. Years and Years have gone by with tons of changes to the forest and habbaition surrounding it because the forest adapts to new environments and change from different animals arriving to different plants producing new foods for others. Each year you can find over 5-10 different plants or species that will grow through the soil or find its way to this magnificent national park. Its home to one of the best fertile found and can help out many plants in need of nourishment. From starting just as a road cutting through Costa Rica to transforming into a beautiful forest full of life and nature with a giant splash of love is something special that we need to understand and take in because the plants in world are going slowly but thats what we need to survive in Earth.
