The pinpoint spot that shows exactly where the park is located throughout Costa Rica

Braulio Carrillo National Park is administered by the Conservation Area of the Central Mountain Range, because it protects the hydraulic resources that provide water to the entire Central Valley.Dense rainforest, tumbling waterfalls, towering volcanoes and rushing rivers fill the landscape of Costa Rica’s second-largest national park, a green paradise just 30 minutes from busy San Jose. Braulio Carrillo’s diversity of life is owed to its varying geography — from humid, lowland jungles just 160 feet above sea level to chilly cloud forest at an altitude of 9,535 feet.

The National Park is in one of the most beautiful lands you will ever see, located in the Heart of Costa Rica where love is found in everything living. The plants are nourished with love, the food is made purely out of love, and there culture is one you will love to be apart of once you got there.

San Jose Limon , Heredia Province, Costa Rica The history behind this amazing forest is The park was named in honor of former Costa Rican president Braulio Carrillo, whose administration had helped foster the nation’s early agricultural economy and had built the first road linking San José to the Caribbean coast. This magnificent forest was founded in 1978 of the coast of Costa Rica, a beautiful island that will leave you without breath. The Braulio Carrillo National Park is one of the most extensive national parks in Costa Rica. We use the word extensive because not only does this park cover an area of over 44,099 hectares, but it also encompasses seven diverse habitats. Created in 1978 to safeguard the diversity of plant and wildlife found in this region, the Braulio Carrillo National Park is indeed worth a visit, whether you are traveling alone or with family.

Braulio Carrillo includes many parks with volcano origins, such as the Barva Volcano, Cerro Cacho Negro and Zurqui. There are two different stations in the park: Quebrada Gonzalez and the Barva Volcano. Both near each other but far enough for an intense sweat.

Braulio Carrillo National Park was given its name in honor to Braulio Carrillo, the third head of state who governed Costa Rica from 1835-1837 and 1838-1842. Carrillo promoted the cultivation of coffee plantations and the export of this product into Europe; which is the main reason why he conceived the connection between the Central Valley and the Caribbean region of Costa Rica. During the administration of Tomas Guardia, another cobblestone road was built from Parasito de Moravia to the Honduras and Sucio rivers.
